Fantasy Football Predix - Gameweek 31

2 April 2015

We are into the business end of FPL & it is very important to get our tactics right. Whether you are riding high in your mini-leagues or languishing around the bottom, the upcoming space of 8 gameweeks which includes 3 double gameweeks & a single blank GW provides a fantastic opportunity to boost your overall rankings. A blank GW is mostly seen as a low scoring gameweek as many FPL managers fail to field a proper playing XI, but instead of following the masses it would be wise to the ditch blank gameweek players & replace them with players who can have an impact on the same GW. If you are not taking full advantage of DGW's, you are simply not playing the game in a right manner.

The Doubles:

We have a very tricky DGW coming up as Aston villa & QPR both face testing trips to Old Trafford & The Hawthorns respectively before they clash at Villa park, so this somehow reduces the appeal of the upcoming double gameweek as West Brom have kept 4 clean sheets in their last 5 matches & QPR have struggled on the road. Even though Aston Villa are in stunning form right now, an away fixture to Manchester United is never easy. It’s worth noting that the midlands outfit then have trips to Spurs and City on either side of their blank Gameweek 33 & QPR face Liverpool, Chelsea & City -in addition to a blank GW 33 after their DGW adventure ends. So stockpiling on QPR & Aston villa players right now is not a good option, nor is it a good time to use your wildcard if you still have it. Make sure you do not own more than 5 outfield players & one goalkeeper from the following sides: Arsenal, Sunderland, Aston Villa & QPR.

Add Liverpool & Hull players to that list too if you feel Liverpool can beat Blackburn in FA cup or just to play it safe. Decide your quota of DGW players upon the same above mentioned criteria, It would be ideal to have two but not more than 3 players from QPR & Aston villa for DGW 31 as later you get two Free transfers to remove these players for GW 33 resulting in all players who are facing blanks end up on bench whilst you have a squad of full capacity (11 players) to field.

As it would be wise to limit the players from the doubles, let’s take a look at players who are expected to return a massive points haul with help of "Fantasy Football fix PROJECTIONS":

Charlie Austin: Definitely a captainship material for this week. He has been the focal point of attack for QPR & has already scored 15 goals this season. A point to note is that Charlie Austin's two highest scoring gameweeks were against Villa (brace + 3bp) and WBA (hat-trick + 3bp). (Projected GW Score: 10)

Robert Green: He does not come with a clean sheet assurance, but his tendency to rack up saves & bonus points heightens his appeal. (Projected GW Score: 7.6)

Christian Benteke: Another nominee for captain’s armband this week. He has scored 3 goals in as many last outings & also snatched a goal in the international fixture. (Projected GW Score: 7.4)

Gabby Agbonlahor: He has been a major part of resurgence at Villa Park since Sherwood's arrival & has banished his long barren run of goals by contributing to the team. (Projected GW Score: 6.7)

Matty Phillips: Out of the last 7 goals QPR have scored, he has contributed to 5 of them by scoring a goal & assisting four. A stand-out cut priced differential option. (Projected GW Score: 6.2)

Analysing The Upcoming Fixtures:

Sign em'up-

CHELSEA: The league leaders have it easy & an upcoming double adds to their appeal in FPL. It would be a good move to rake in all 3 players from Chelsea prior to GW 33, as they do not face a blank & follow it up with an enticing Double GW.

SWANSEA: Gary Monk's men are on a three-match winless run. you can expect it to change as they face Hull, Everton & Stoke at home whilst Leicester & Newcastle away in their Upcoming 5 fixtures. Gylfi Siggurdson the forgotten man offers a good alternate for those looking to replace Arsenal big guns as they face a blank soon.

WEST BROM: Things have massively changed after the arrival of Tony Pulis especially in the defensive department. West Brom have accumulated 4 clean sheets out of their last six fixtures & expect the run to continue as their upcoming fixtures ease up. They face QPR, Leicester, Crystal Palace & Newcastle in their upcoming 6 fixtures

Ship em’ out-

ARSENAL: As they face a blank GW 33 plus Liverpool & Chelsea in their upcoming fixtures. It would be wise to drop the gunners until their fixture list eases up.

STOKE: They face Chelsea, Southampton, Swansea & Tottenham in their next 6 fixtures. It would be better to replace cut-priced Walters & Moses or Stoke defenders as they seem less likely to put points on the table with Mahrez & Schlupp as Leicester face a DGW in the near future.

HULL: They have a tough task of survival on their hands as they face Swansea, Southampton, Liverpool & Arsenal in the next six. Their case could worsen if Liverpool beat Blackburn in the FA cup replay.

Hotpix:

By analysing the team's with easy fixtures & with the help of "Fantasy football Fix Projections”, the players who are predicted to collect most points over the upcoming 6 Gameweeks are –

Hazard – 42.9 points

Kane – 42.5 points

Silva – 37.3 points

Costa - 36.3 points

Aguero - 33.5 points

No real surprises here as the big guns start to fire as the season draws to a close. If you don’t have these players in your squad you’ll pay a premium for them but the stats say they will be worth it. It’s time to be brave now if you’re going to climb those leaderboards but will you stick to the tried and trusted or pick someone out of the ordinary?
