Chelsea are one of only two teams to play twice in gameweek 34 and in this blog their assets are compared over the last eight gameweeks.
Havertz (33.3) and Mount (29.2) are significantly ahead in terms of xFPL score with the other top five all in defence (Mendy, Rüdiger and Christensen). Werner (19.8) is also interesting, he has played only 315 minutes compared to 495 for Havertz and it is worth mentioning that the explosive R. James only featured once over this period.
Looking at goal threat, Havertz tops the table for shots in the box (SiB) (15) and 'Expected Goals' (xG) (3.09). Werner's numbers again stand out considering the limited minutes played, he is second for SiB (11), 'big chances' (four) and xG (2.13). Mount has taken 12 shots but just six of these have been in the box. Alonso is worth a look in defence, in just 161 minutes the Spaniard has taken five SiB.
Kanté has surprisingly been Chelsea's top creator with 10 attempted assists. Ziyech and Havertz are joint-second (eight each) which further strengthens Havertz' appeal. Alonso's seven chances created is impressive considering the limited minutes mentioned earlier. Mount has created the same number (seven) of chances but he is top for 'big chances' created (three).
Based on this analysis, Havertz, Mount and Werner look to be the best options in attack. In defence, Alonso and R. James are the explosive options with Rüdiger the steady pick.
