West Ham have had a strong pre-season and with a good opening run of fixtures lots of managers are debating which full-back to include in their Fantasy Premier League (FPL) squads. Their numbers are compared for last season using the Fix Heatmaps feature.
The Touch Heat Map above shows that both fullbacks often took up advanced positions which highlights that they are both great picks in their own right. However, it would appear that Coufal was more advanced in open play and got into the penalty box more than Cresswell. Set-pieces are a big part of the Englishman’s appeal though, which can be seen via the red colouring (lots of touches) next to the corner flag.
Coufal appears to be making more tackles, clearances and interceptions as per the Average Defensive Radar which bodes well for his bonus point potential. The Average Attacking Radar shows there is not much difference between the two, with the left-back creating more chances from fewer crosses.
When looking at their total statistics, Coufal took 10 shots in the box compared to just four for Cresswell, and the Czech also wins out by 0.12 in terms of Expected Goals. In terms of creativity though, the left-back is the clear winner with 57 chances created to the right-back’s 44. Cresswell looks to be worth the 0.5 extra, but Coufal is also a great pick over the course of the season.
