Double Gameweek 33 Assets Compared

Fantasy Football Fix 30 March 2022

Arsenal, Brighton, Burnley, Leicester, Newcastle, Man. Utd and Southampton all feature twice in double gameweek 33 and managers who plan on not using their Free Hit chip that week need to start making plans on which players to prioritise. In this blog, the assets from these teams are compared using the Fix Custom Stats table for the last six gameweeks.

xFPL is calculated primarily using expected goals (xG), assists (xA), which combine as Fantasy Premier League (FPL) involvements (xG + xA = xI), as well as expected clean sheets (xC). These numbers are a result of underlying statistics (i.e. shot type and location will give a probability of scoring = xG). xFPL is the combination of these statistics and factors in appearance and bonus points to give an overall expected FPL point score.

Schär (36.9) tops the Custom Stats table for xFPL which is a bit surprising. The Newcastle defender has racked up 38 FPL points over that period which is second only to Saka (39). Only Walker-Peters (eight) has taken more shots in the box (SiB) than his eight over the last six gameweeks and at a price of just 4.3 he looks a great acquisition for the Magpies' double. Sancho is another player going under-the-radar, the winger looks to have finally settled in at Old Trafford and no player has managed more goal involvements (five) over this period (two goals, three assists).

Ward-Prowse tops the table for creativity and no player from the aforementioned teams has fashioned more chances (16). He is also top for 'big chances' created (five) but has registered no assists due to his teammates being wasteful. The Arsenal duo of Ødegaard (15) and Saka (14) deserve a mention as well. Both players offer multiple routes to points at a budget price. In terms of defenders, Targett's numbers stand out. Newcastle's left-back has created 13 chances with the next best Shaw (seven) some way behind, but B. Fernandes also deserves a mention here with 12 chances created and four 'big chances' created.

Ronaldo looks one of the best captaincy options in gameweek 33. The 37-year old is top for shots (21), SiB (17), 'big chances' (six) and goals (four). His creative numbers are not bad either, with seven attempted assists and three 'big chances' created. Saka matches him for shots (21) which underlines why he is such a good FPL asset. H. Barnes looks to be the standout attacking option from Leicester, the winger has taken 13 SiB and also notched three assists while only Lacazette (four) faring better. Adams is also worth a look with the striker pool being so limited, the Saints' striker has registered four goal involvements (two goals, two assists) and trails only Ronaldo (six) for 'big chances' (five).

None of Brighton or Burnley's players feature prominently in this table, and are probably teams that most managers should look to avoid.
