Fantasy Premier League (FPL) resumes on Boxing Day and over the break double gameweeks were announced for several clubs. Chelsea and Fulham have a confirmed double in gameweek 19 while Arsenal and Man. City have a confirmed double in gameweek 23. Man. City and Spurs have a double gameweek scheduled for gameweek 20, but it is worth noting that is likely to be moved if the ‘Man. City vs. Chelsea’ FA Cup game on the 8th of January requires a replay.
As the above image from our Fixture Planner shows (assuming Man. City's double in gameweek 20 goes ahead), the reigning Champions have the best schedule over the next seven gameweeks. The Cityzens have a total of nine fixtures, with four of those at the Etihad. Chelsea have a strong schedule as well, they play all three promoted sides; Bournemouth, Forest and Fulham, in the first three games after the restart and play Fulham again in gameweek 22.
The above image from our Stats Sandbox feature lists Chelsea's attacking numbers over the last six gameweeks sorted by xFPL and Mount (22.10) is the clear winner. However, a look at his underlying numbers reveals that he only notched 0.97 'Expected Goals' (xG) over those matches, which is very poor. He took just three shots in the box (SiB) over those six gameweeks and created the same number of chances, as Chelsea struggled to put decent performances together. With Kovacic likely to miss the opening fixtures, Mount might again be forced to play a deeper role, so it is a tricky decision on where to invest in Chelsea’s attack.
R. James was injured during this period in the league, but has been pictured back in training over the World Cup break and could be worth investment. Arrizabalaga has also been pictured in training, and at just 4.5 could also be worth a look.
