Justin Kluivert: The Dutch Dynamo

Justin Kluivert, the 24-year-old Netherlands international, has been making a strong impact at the Vitality Stadium this season. Son of the legendary Patrick Kluivert, he has been living up to the family name.

Bournemouth players' FPL stats

According to the Opta Stats Sandbox tool, he is Bournemouth's top FPL points scorer and leading goal scorer.

Per 90 minutes, Kluivert has been a consistent threat, averaging 0.64 goals. His expected goals (xG) of 0.55 suggests he is slightly overperforming, which could be seen as encouraging for FPL managers. However, his non-penalty xG is just 0.28, with six of his 11 goals this season coming from the penalty spot.

The Amsterdam-born winger has been getting into good positions, averaging 2.86 shots per 90, with 1.46 on target. His creativity is also evident, providing 0.23 FPL assists per 90, with an expected assists (xA) figure of 0.18. He creates 0.18 big chances per 90, highlighting his playmaking ability.

Most transferred in players in FPL

Kluivert’s performances haven’t gone unnoticed by FPL managers. He is currently owned by 18.8% of teams, reflecting his appeal.

He has also seen a surge in transfers, with 315,275 managers bringing him in ahead of the upcoming gameweek. As shown in the Transfer Analytics tool, he is the most transferred-in player so far this week.

Antoine Semenyo: The Ghanaian Goal Threat

Antoine Semenyo, the 24-year-old Ghana international, has been making a big impact in Bournemouth’s midfield. The former Bristol City man has adapted well to the Premier League, adding a different dimension to the Cherries' attack in his third season at the club.

Premier League players ranked by shots taken

Semenyo's stats highlight his involvement in Bournemouth’s attacking play. Only Erling Haaland (93) has attempted more shots than his 92 this season, as shown in the Opta Stats Sandbox.

He is currently scoring 0.31 goals per 90, lower than his expected goals (xG) of 0.47. This suggests he has been underperforming, meaning his output could improve. However, it also explains the frustrations of some FPL managers—he often looks dangerous but hasn’t always converted his chances.

The Ghanaian is clearly not afraid to take a shot, averaging 4.1 attempts per 90, with 1.29 on target. His creativity is also a factor, with 0.18 FPL assists per 90 and an expected assists (xA) figure of 0.19. He creates 0.36 big chances per 90—double that of Kluivert—showing his playmaking ability.

Bournemouth players' FPL ownership in the top 1 million managers

Despite these promising numbers, Semenyo remains overlooked by many FPL managers. He is owned by just 7.3%, making him a potential differential.

Among the top 1 million managers, his ownership rises slightly to 8.9%, compared to Kluivert at 22.9% and Ouattara at just 2.5%, as shown in the Insight Live tool.

Interest in Semenyo is growing—69,307 managers have transferred him in for the upcoming gameweek, making him the sixth most popular signing this week.

Dango Ouattara: The Burkinabe Breakthrough

Dango Ouattara, the 22-year-old Burkina Faso international, has been impressing for Bournemouth this season. The young winger has shown flashes of brilliance, including his recent hat trick against Nottingham Forest, making him an intriguing FPL prospect.

Looking at the lineup for Bournemouth’s recent thrashing of Forest, it appears that Ouattara started as the most advanced of the trio we're comparing, as shown in the Match Centre feature.

However, when we review the average positions, it’s Kluivert who often takes up a more advanced role.

Bournemouth players' average position versus Forest

Interestingly, Semenyo had the most touches in Forest’s box (8), with Ouattara getting 5 and Kluivert 4, suggesting that a midfielder’s position doesn’t always correlate with their attacking threat.

Ouattara’s stats are impressive. He’s scoring 0.44 goals per 90, which is under his xG of 0.56, indicating consistent performance and potential for further returns.

The Burkinabe attacker is averaging 2.69 shots per 90, with 0.94 on target. While these numbers are lower than Kluivert and Semenyo, Ouattara excels in creativity. He’s registering 0.29 FPL assists per 90, with a notable 0.33 xA. Most impressively, he’s creating 0.51 big chances per 90—the highest of the three players.

Ouattara is currently a true differential pick, with just 1.6% ownership. However, 33,644 managers have transferred him in for the upcoming gameweek, indicating that he’s starting to gain attention from FPL managers in the know.

Conclusion: Which Cherry to Pick?

Each of Bournemouth's midfielders offers something distinct for FPL managers:

  • Kluivert is the most popular and consistent goal threat, thanks to his penalty duties, making him the safest pick.
  • Semenyo boasts the highest shot volume and could explode if he improves his finishing.
  • Ouattara is the creative force, excelling in assists and big chance creation, all while being the budget-friendly option.

When choosing between these Bournemouth midfielders, consider your team structure and risk appetite. Kluivert might be the safer option, Semenyo the potential goal machine, and Ouattara the ultimate differential.

With Bournemouth's favourable fixtures, there’s even a case for doubling up on their midfield if you’re feeling bold. Whichever Cherry you opt for, all three players look set to deliver strong FPL returns in the coming gameweeks.
