One of the newest additions to our Elite XI team, Andrew Neave, has had a difficult start to the season. Andrew joined the Elite XI fraternity at the beginning of the season, showcasing his outstanding career history spanning 12 years. In that time, he has an astounding 7 x Top 10k finishes. This means that, despite playing for over a decade, Andrew finishes more often in the Top 10k than outside it, his best ever finish being 589th globally in 2016.
A rank of 2.6m is an alien concept to Andrew but, as a seasoned FPL manager, Andrew is not worried by this and plans to calmly, but effectively, get his season on the right track. A major component of this it deploying his first Wildcard.

It's been a really tough start to the season and I haven't been reactive enough to the great picks on offer. I've been stubborn with players like Mbeumo and Maddison, who are obviously really great options and show no signs of slowing down. I plan on using the international break to plan ahead and learn from the mistakes I've made in the first 4 Gameweeks. Last year's overall winner was just inside the top 3 million at the end of Gameweek 3, so the season certainly isn't over.
Andrew has made ten changes to his squad already, capturing price increases, dodging price falls, and generally getting a feel for how his squad will look going into Gameweek 5.
A back three of Matty Cash (£4.6m), Destiny Udogie (£4.6m), and Ben Chilwell (£5.8m) set the foundation of Andrew’s Gameweek 5 squad, the Chelsea wing back being the only defender to avoid losing his place in the reshuffle.
Five solid options make up the midfield, including a Spurs double-up of Son Heung-min (£9.1m) and James Maddison (£7.8m). Bruno Fernandes (£8.4m) and Bukayo Saka (£8.7m) retain their places from the Gameweek 4 squad, while Bryan Mbeumo (£6.8m) comes in for Phil Foden (£7.6m).
Up top, a Manchester City double-up of Julián Álvarez (£6.7m) and Erling Haaland (£14.1m) caps off the team.
Andrew’s decision to Wildcard mainly came down to the fact that there are multiple players he wanted in his team who are performing really well. The volatility of the price rises also means that waiting a few weeks on players like Son, Maddison, Alvarez and Udogie, would mean paying at least a £1m more for players Andrew already knows he wants. At the time of writing, Andrew has already benefited from four price rises for players brought in on his Wildcard.
The great fixtures for Chelsea meant that I had tripled up on them and I think I did this mainly out of fear, as opposed to believing they would actually do really well. Chelsea are a team in transition, and while I'm sure there'll be games in those kind fixtures where they'll rack up the points, I think there's enough alternative options who are more reliable, so I'll likely be ditching Jackson and Sterling. If Son gets regular minutes as Spurs’ front man, I think he'll be a must-own this season. Maddison's creativity and delivery means there's a bucket load of goals on offer, and having Son as a central man will surely bring more success than they've had with Richarlison leading the line.
