Mark GW10 points

Mark's season, like many, has been up and down. With a Gameweek Rank of 353k in the first weekend of the season, things were looking good for our Elite XI manager. A small red arrow, followed by another green, saw Mark reach 258k by Gameweek 3. But then, disaster struck! Back-to-back red arrows saw our 'Ginger Assassin' plummet to 2.3m by Gameweek 7, prompting Mark to hit the Wildcard button.

Mark's Wildcard has gone well. Three consecutive green arrows have seen Mark's rank steadily rise to a more respectable 669k. Differential picks such as Darwin Núñez (£7.4m) and Pedro Neto (£5.8m) have combined with a squad of highly owned players to deliver consistently good performances. Unfortunately, an injury to Neto in Gameweek 10 has thrown a spanner in the works.

The plan for Gameweek 11 had been to roll my transfer and play one of 'Red Hot Charlie Taylor' or Gabriel, but the injury to Neto has come at a bad time. It's disappointing as he is a good differential with a great fixture this week. His future was destined to be intertwined with that of my other big differential - genuinely red hot Darwin Nunez. However, I am less inclined to sell Darwin following 3 returns in 3 and at this point I'm wondering if he is a long-term hold.

As a self-described 'opportunist' Mark likes to keep his options open, allowing his team to be dynamic and ensuring his budget and squad structure is adaptive. This allows Mark to jump on unexpected opportunities which present themselves throughout the season. With his 1st Wildcard already played, Mark will now be thinking about the longer-term health of this squad.

Maybe a good Neto exit plan is to downgrade to Cole Palmer this week, allowing a Taylor upgrade subsequently. Given that I don't intend to Wildcard again for 20 or so weeks, it might be wise to have 13 good outfield options. Overall, I've no plans beyond week-to-week management now that the Wildcard is gone. Due to the dynamic nature of the game, I normally don't make detailed plans at this stage of the season for various reasons.
