FPL Gameweek 21: The Best Captain Choices

Cole Palmer (WOL) - Highest Projected Point Scorer

Caveat: Palmer is currently flagged as a doubt due to an ankle injury after Maresca's press conference

Palmer's total of 14 goals is only bettered by Salah (18) amongst midfielders this season. The England international is also second for shots on target (41 vs 33), 'big chances' (28 vs 14) and 'Expected Goals' (xG) (17.03 vs 11.46) only to the Egyptian King.

Meanwhile, he is top for attempted assists (59) while only Salah (16) and Saka (20) having created more 'big chances' than his 15.

Player Point Projections for Gameweek 22

Chelsea have scored 41 goals this season, only Spurs (43) and Liverpool (48) have found the back of the net more often. The Blues are also second for both shots (341) and xG (44.85).

Their visitors Wolves have conceded more goals (48) than any other side this campaign and have kept just three clean sheets. The Midlands side are ranked 15th for shots conceded (297) and 14th for 'Expected Goals Conceded' (xGC) (35.29).

Our Predicted Points & Stats tool currently projects a score of 8.2 for Salah.

Mohamed Salah (bre) - Highly Projected Points Alternative

Despite his blank against Forest, Salah is still two goals (18) ahead of Haaland (16) in the Golden Boot race. As the below image from our Opta Stats Sandbox feature shows, no midfielder has taken more shots in the box (76), been afforded more 'big chances' (28) or registered a higher xG (17.03) than the Egyptian international.

Meanwhile, he is also top for FPL assists (13) and 'Expected Assists' (xA) (8.91).

Phil Foden (ips) - The Differential

Foden has shown signs he is back to his best after a poor start to the season. As the below image from our Match Centre shows, over Man. City's last five league matches he is top amongst their players for goals (four) and attempted assists (14), while only Haaland has racked up a higher xG (3.5 vs 2.1) and shots on target (nine vs eight).

Stats For Manchester City Players last five league matches
