FPL Wildcard Defence: Double Liverpool

Liverpool’s Double Gameweek is now confirmed following their Carabao Cup progression. With uncertainty over attacking minutes—aside from Salah—the Assistant Manager AI favours doubling up on Liverpool’s defence with Alisson and Alexander-Arnold.

As the below image from our Fixture Difficulty Ratings shows, Liverpool will blank in Gameweek 29 while Bournemouth host Brentford that week. This makes Kepa an ideal sub for Alisson. Kepa also has Wolves and Brighton in 26 and 27 when Alisson plays Man. City and Newcastle.

Gabriel and Muñoz (8 each) trail only Gvardiol (9) for big chances among defenders, making them strong goal threats alongside their clean sheet potential in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, Mykolenko and Huijsen provide budget-friendly access to defences with solid clean sheet prospects in Gameweek 29 and beyond.

FPL Wildcard Midfield: Four Penalty takers

Salah is the standout captaincy choice for Double Gameweek 25, having already scored 21 goals this season.

As shown in the Predicted Points & Stats tool, he leads the way with 16.4 projected points—well ahead of his nearest rival, Watkins (10.5), who also has fitness concerns.

Chelsea are ranked second on the Fixture Difficulty Ratings for 'Attack Difficulty', with home games in Gameweek 27 and 28 against Southampton and Leicester particularly enticing.

Palmer offers an alternative captaincy option to Salah in those weeks and the England international is second (12.02) for 'Expected Goals' (xG) only to Salah (18.61) amongst midfielders.

Bournemouth's top scoring FPL asset with 123 FPL points, Kluivert, is the preferred midfield pick ahead of a run of fixtures that sees the Cherries top the Fixture Difficulty Ratings for the next six Gameweeks.

With 14 goals and three assists, Mbeumo is the fourth penalty taker picked with Brentford playing West Ham, Leicester and Everton over the next three Gameweeks.

As the below image from our Opta Stats Sandbox feature shows, the aforementioned quartet are amongst the top five midfielders for xG this season.

With Villa also doubling in 25, Rogers merits inclusion with only Watkins (116) registering more FPL points than his 97 amongst Villa players this season. Unlike the forward who is currently nursing an injury, Rogers minutes are secure and he can be benched after the Double or sold with Blank Gameweek 29 in mind.

FPL Wildcard Forwards: Isak Out

Fantasy Premier League wildcard team reveal

Newcastle’s progression to the Carabao Cup final means their Gameweek 29 fixture against Palace has been postponed. As shown in our Fixture Difficulty Ratings, the Magpies rank lowest for ‘Attack Difficulty’ over the next five Gameweeks, facing Man City, Forest, and Liverpool before their Blank in Gameweek 29. This tough schedule has led to Isak’s exclusion from the Algorithm Wildcard Squad.

Arsenal are rated fourth for 'Attack Difficulty' over the same period and with Jesus out, Havertz' position as their centre-forward is secure.

No FPL forward has registered more FPL points than Wood (154) this season and while the immediate fixture run does look daunting on paper, the New Zealand international does have an excellent fixture in Gameweek 29 against Ipswich where he could perhaps even emerge as a captaincy option.

Haaland (35), Watkins (24) and Isak (23) are the only forwards to have been afforded more 'big chances' than Wissa (21) this season. The Democratic Republic of Congo international offers FPL managers to capitalise on Brentford's short term run and has excellent fixtures over the next few Gameweeks.
