In this blog the Top Five Fantasy Premier League (FPL) Key Players for Gameweek 28 are discussed. Every FPL Gameweek, picks will be in the below format:

Bukayo Saka (BRE)

Saka has been one of the league’s top performers over the last six Gameweeks with seven goals and two assists. As the Opta Stats Sandbox image below shows, the England international’s total of 27 shots is only bettered by Luis Diaz (29) and Foden (34) amongst midfielders, while he is top for ‘Expected Goals’ (xG) (4.38). Arsenal have scored a whopping 26 goals over the last six Gameweeks, nine more than second placed Liverpool (17). The Gunners are second for shots on target (SoT) (47 vs 52) and ‘Expected Goals’ (xG) (14.42 vs 14.97) only to Man. City, who have played a game more over the aforementioned period. Their visitors Brentford have conceded 17 goals over the same period (18th) and have kept just one clean sheet. The Bees are bottom for both shots conceded (135) and ‘Expected Goals Conceded’ (xGC) (15.03). Our Predicted Points & Stats tool currently projects a point score of 4.8 for Saka.

Ollie Watkins (TOT)

FPL’s top scoring asset with 183 points, Watkins has found the back of the net seven times over the last six Gameweeks and notched four assists as well. He trails only Haaland (32) for shots amongst forwards (24) while only the Norwegian international (12) has been afforded more ‘big chances’ (BC) than his 10. He is also joint-top for BC created (three). As the below image from our Opta Player Heatmaps feature shows, he has averaged 6.4 FPL points per game at Villa Park this season. Villa have scored 16 goals over the last six Gameweeks with only Liverpool (17) and Arsenal (26) more prolific. Spurs have conceded eight goals (fifth) over the same period but have kept no clean sheets. The North London side are ranked second for shots conceded (45) and sixth for xGC (8.18). Dominic Solanke (SHU/LUT)

Solanke has found the back of the net just twice over the last six Gameweeks, but as the below image from our Match Stats feature shows, over Bournemouth’s last five league games he is top amongst their players for xG (3.0), SoT (five), assists (two) and attempted assists (eight) while he is second for goals scored (one). Bournemouth have scored seven goals over the last six Gameweeks (17th) and are ranked 13th for xG (9.23). Their first opponents Sheff. Utd. have conceded 21 goals (20th) over the same period and have kept no clean sheets. Meanwhile, only Man. Utd. (127) and Brentford (135) have allowed opponents more shots (107) than the Blades. Their second opponents Luton have also struggled at the back, the Hatters are ranked 17th for goals conceded (16) and 19th for xGC (14.13). Carlton Morris (cry/bou)

Morris has scored four goals over the last six gameweeks with only Højlund, Muniz (five each) and Watkins (seven) more prolific amongst forwards. He is ranked sixth for SiB (13), fourth for SoT (nine) and fifth for xG (3.23). He is also third for chances created (nine) and joint-top for BC created (three) while no forward has registered a higher ‘Expected Assists’ (xA) (2.08). As the below image from our Transfer Analytics feature shows, he is currently the second most transferred in player ahead of Gameweek 28. Luton have scored 13 goals over the last six Gameweeks (sixth) and are ranked fifth for xG (13.01). Their first opponents Palace have conceded 13 goals over the same period (13th) and are ranked sixth for shots conceded (71). Their second opponents Bournemouth have conceded eight goals (fifth) and are ranked ninth for xGC (9.21). Our Predicted Points & Stats tool currently projects a point score of 6.8 for Morris.

Alfie Doughty (cry/bou)

Doughty has notched two assists over the last six Gameweeks with only Kiwior, Trippier and Reguilon (three each) faring better amongst defenders. The left-back is top for chances created (17) as well. Luton have conceded 29 goals in away matches this season (17th) and are ranked 18th for shots conceded (243). Their first opponents Palace have scored 10 goals over the last six Gameweeks (11th) and are ranked bottom for both xG (5.32) and BC (six). Their second opponents Bournemouth have only scored 12 goals on home turf, the joint-fewest in the league. No side has registered a lower xG (15.50) in home matches than the Cherries.
