In this blog, Fantasy Premier League (FPL) Gameweek 27's numbers are analysed to determine the best players and teams to target going forward.
Burke tops the Custom Stats xFPL table for Gameweek 27 with a score of 13.0. The Luton defender took two shots in the box (SiB), both of which were deemed 'big chances' (BC) and landed both on target. Foden is close behind with an xFPL score of 12.8, the England international took more shots (nine) than any other play in Gameweek 28, six of these attempts were in the box and he landed four on target. He also created a BC which Haaland spurned. Ødegaard continued his rich vein of form with 10 FPL points, the Norwegian international attempted four assists and took four shots enroute to an xFPL score of 8.5. Morris put forth his credentials ahead of Double Gameweek 28, the forward took three SiB, two of which were BC. He also attempted three assists and notched an xFPL score of 8.0. B. Silva was the weekend's most creative player with seven attempted assists. However, he had no BC involvements which meant a low xFPL score of just 5.3.
As the above image from our Transfer Analytics feature shows, Double Gameweek 28 assets Solanke and Morris top the transfers in for Gameweek 28 so far with nearly 250,000 transfers combined. Son and Bowen who are playing as strikers for their respective sides are in third and fourth with nearly 250,000 transfers combined as well. Richarlison, Trippier, De Bruyne and are the most sold players with all of them either blanking or not featuring in Gameweek 27. In defence, all the traffic seems to be heading towards Doughty with the Luton left-back featuring in six of the Top 10 defender transfer combinations. In midfield, Barkley is the only popular Double Gameweek asset with both Son and Bowen occupying nine of the Top 10 midfielder transfer combinations. Up top, the Double Gameweek duo of Solanke and Morris occupy nine of the Top 10 forward transfer combinations with Haaland to Morris the most popular move.
As the above image from our Fix Heatmaps feature shows, Solanke (30) has been outscored by Morris (39) over the last six Gameweeks with the latter actually playing fewer minutes (629 vs 550).
A closer look at the underlying numbers shows that there is not much to seperate the two. Morris has scored one more goal (three vs four) but the pair are near identical when it comes to 'Expected Goals' (xG) (3.40 vs 3.32), SiB (14 each), assists (two each) and attempted assists (10 vs nine). Solanke is the better pick of the two purely because of the fixtures Bournemouth have in Double Gameweek 28 but Morris looks like a great option as well.
