FPL Gameweek 3: The Best Captain Choices

Erling Haaland (whu) - Highest Projected Point Scorer

Haaland's hattrick against Ipswich made it four goals in the opening two games for the Norwegian international, he is top amongst all players for shots on target (six), 'big chances' (four) and 'Expected Goals' (xG) (2.33) while only Muniz (nine) has taken more shots in the box than his eight.

Man. City have scored six goals in the opening two matches (first) while only Bournemouth (4.14), West Ham (4.54) and Liverpool (5.66) have registered a higher xG (3.84). Their opponents West Ham conceded 74 goals last season (17th) and kept only five clean sheets. The Hammers were ranked 18th for 'Expected Goals Conceded' (xGC) (75.75) last season. Cole Palmer (CPL) - Highly Projected Points Alternative

Palmer blanked in Gameweek 1 but the top scoring FPL asset of last season got back to his best with a goal and three assists against Wolves. The England international was top for FPL points (143) and goals (16) in home matches last season, while only Salah (22) was the only midfielder to be afforded more 'big chances' than his 16. No side has scored more goals than Chelsea (six) over the first two Gameweeks, the London side were ranked sixth for goals scored in home matches last season (44). Their opponents Palace have started poorly with four goals conceded, no clean sheets and zero points. The Eagles are ranked just 12th for xGC (2.97) over the opening two matches. Kai Havertz (BHA) - The Differential

Havertz racked up 70 FPL points over Arsenal's final 10 games of the 2023/24 season with only Isak (77), Gvardiol (79), Mateta (84) and Palmer (102) faring better. Over the aforementioned period, he was top amongst Arsenal players for shots in the box (27), 'big chances' (eight) and xG (4.65). Arsenal have scored four times this season (fifth) and were ranked fourth for goals scored on home turf last year (48). Their opponents Brighton conceded 35 goals in on their travels last season and kept just three clean sheets. The Seagulls were ranked sixth for xGC (33.64) in away matches.
