As shown in our Opta Stats Sandbox, Erling Haaland (184.25) leads all forwards for Expected FPL Points (xFPL) this season. Despite a campaign below his usual high standards, the Norwegian has still delivered 21 goals in 28 appearances.
His Expected Goals (xG) of 22.50 suggests he is performing in line with underlying data. No forward has recorded more shots on target (58), received more big chances (39), or posted a higher xG tally (22.50) than the 24-year-old.
Watkins is second with an xFPL score of 151.62, and Isak (150.12) close behind.
The top scoring FPL forward with 171 FPL points, Wood, has scored 18 goals from just 32 attempts on target and has over performed his xFPL score (147.93) significantly. It remains to be seen if the New Zealand international can sustain these incredible numbers for the remainder of the season, with three consecutive blanks before the international break.
It is clear from the above comparison that Haaland is unmatched in terms of underlying numbers, some of the other forwards' numbers are compared using the Fix Comparison Matrix as shown below.
Mateta is set to return for Crystal Palace after the international break, and he has flourished under Oliver Glasner, scoring 12 goals this season—eight of which have come in the second half of the campaign.
Despite his impressive goal tally, his shot volume has been low. He ranks last among top forwards for shots in the box (43) and shots on target (25). However, he remains joint-second for big chances, showing he is still getting high-quality opportunities.
As the above image from our Fixture Difficulty Ratings shows, Palace are top for 'Attack Difficulty' for the run in and the Frenchman is a great buy ahead of the Gameweek 30 fixture against Southampton.
Cunha should be available for Wolves after he serves his suspension in Gameweek 30. The Brazilian international has racked up 143 FPL points this season with his creativity playing a huge part, no forward has attempted more assists than his 43 this campaign.
Cunha takes a large percentage of his attempts from outside the area, which means a low number of shots inside the box (45) and 'big chances' (five).
Wissa has had a solid campaign for Brentford with 13 goals, the Democratic Republic of Congo international is third for both shots in the box (50) and shots on target (32). While only Isak (25) has been afforded more 'big chances' amongst the players in the comparison. He is also a great enabler at a price of just £6.5m.
However, as the above image from our Fixture Difficulty Ratings shows, Brentford are ranked 17th for 'Attack Difficulty' for the run in with only Liverpool, Man. Utd. and Fulham faring worse.
Isak has enjoyed a stellar campaign for Newcastle with 19 goals, the highest in the comparison. The Swedish international trails only N. Jackson (58) for shots in the box (57), while only Cunha has landed more attempts on target (35) than his 34.
He is also top for 'big chances' (25) and FPL managers who sold him in Blank Gameweek 29 must surely be making plans to get him back, with Newcastle having a Double in Gameweek 32.
N. Jackson has missed significant gametime through injury for Chelsea, but is expected back on the other side of the international break.
Despite limited minutes (1750), the Senegalese international is still top of the comparison for FPL assists (six) and shots in the box (58) and could be a great differential for the run in.
As the below image from our Predicted Points & Stats tool shows, Haaland (54.1) is projected to be the top scoring Forward for the remainder of the season with Isak (50.0) close behind. Considering the significant price difference between the two players, it only underlines Isak's excellent value.
Despite poor underlying numbers, Wood (46.3) is in third with Mateta (42.2) and Watkins (40.0) rounding off the top five.
Wissa's (36.4) difficult fixtures see him placed only in sixth with Cunha (32.6) in seventh.
Marmoush could be a great alternative for FPL managers who can't afford Haaland. The Egyptian international has impressed, scoring 37 FPL points in just six starts for Man City.
We recently compared the two forwards in our latest Who to Target article—check it out for a deeper dive into their stats!
