As we approach the final stretch of the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) season, all eyes are on the teams with extra fixtures—and Manchester City are among the four sides with a Double Gameweek 33, alongside Arsenal, Aston Villa and Crystal Palace.
While several clubs have appealing schedules, this blog is all about zeroing in on the best FPL options from Pep Guardiola’s squad.
It’s not been the smoothest title defence for City, who came into the campaign chasing a historic fifth successive Premier League crown. Yet, with UEFA Champions League qualification still on the line, there’s no lack of motivation for them to finish strongly.
Let’s break down the top five Man City players to consider for your FPL team during the season run-in.

With a top-five finish all but securing Champions League qualification this season, Manchester City’s remaining fixtures carry added significance—especially their Double Gameweek 33.
A glance at the Fixture Difficulty Rating tool shows City rank fifth for Attacking Difficulty over the rest of the season.
However, if we exclude Blank Gameweek 34—when many managers plan to activate their Free Hit chip—Pep’s side climb to second, just behind Arsenal.
For Defensive Difficulty, they rank top with Gameweek 34 removed, and third when it's included.
In Double Gameweek 33, Guardiola’s team travel to face Everton at Goodison Park before hosting Aston Villa, who currently sit just one point behind them in the table.
It’s not the easiest double, with both opponents in decent form, but things improve notably after that.
From Gameweek 34 onwards, City avoid all of the current top seven teams, giving them one of the more favourable run-ins among FPL sides. That makes their assets particularly appealing—especially for those planning to Free Hit in the upcoming blank Gameweek.
Using the Insight Live tool, we can track player ownership among the top 100k managers from Double Gameweek 32.
Two names stand out as near-essential picks: Marmoush with an eye-watering 84.3% ownership, and Gvardiol not far behind at 70.3%. It would take a brave manager to go without either of them.
Beyond these two, we’re firmly into differential territory.
Next up is Savinho, owned by 12.6%, but he’s played just 8 minutes across the last two matches—hardly reassuring. Foden follows with 8.1% ownership, though he’s missed two of the last three games and is currently injured. Hopefully, Pep will provide clarity in his next press conference.
Then comes Ederson, also flagged after going off injured against Crystal Palace. If the rumours are true, he’s unlikely to be fit for the next gameweek—again, Pep’s update will be crucial.
De Bruyne is currently owned by just 0.1% of managers in the top 100k. 👀

Where do you think that number will be after the Gameweek 33 deadline? 🤔 pic.twitter.com/Ol4Uay7XQg
Ruben Dias, who looks fairly nailed at the moment, is owned by just 1.6%, while Kevin De Bruyne, fresh off a 12-point haul, is astonishingly owned by only 0.1%.
Predicting a Manchester City starting XI is like trying to win the lottery—and with a packed fixture schedule ahead, Pep Guardiola’s rotation policy is likely to step up a gear.
City’s upcoming run includes two league matches in quick succession, followed by an FA Cup semi-final, and then a tight turnaround for Gameweek 34. With such a congested calendar, Pep is bound to shuffle his deck.
Despite the temptation to rest key players for cup glory, securing a top-four finish and Champions League football will remain the main objective. That only adds more uncertainty for FPL managers trying to nail down starters.
Here’s what’s on the horizon for City:
Day/Date | Opposition | Competition |
---|---|---|
Sunday 19th April | Everton (A) | FPL DGW33 |
Tuesday 22nd April | Aston Villa (H) | FPL DGW33 |
Sunday 26th April | Nottingham Forest | FA Cup Semi Final |
Friday 2nd May | Wolves (H) | FPL GW34 |
With the schedule is piling up, don’t be surprised if your FPL City assets find themselves on the bench—that's the risk!
Here’s a breakdown of the top five City assets worth considering, blending form, fixtures, ownership, and expected minutes.
While Gündogan isn’t even among the top 10 most-owned City players—and is completely absent from the top 100k—he earns a surprise inclusion here.
With City's season underwhelming and rotation in full swing, Gündogan could benefit from a potential De Bruyne false 9 setup, allowing him to operate just behind.
In his last four games, only Marmoush (3.09) has a higher xG than Gündogan’s 1.42, according to the Opta Stats Sandbox.
He’s also managed two assists—the most among City players over that spell. We’re not expecting a return to his 2020/21 form (17 goals), but a mini-renaissance isn’t out of the question.
Dias might not scream excitement, but he offers something precious in Pep’s world: minutes. He’s one of the most nailed defenders in the squad and a solid route into City’s improving defence.
According to the Predicted Points & Stats tool, City are forecasted to keep 2.2 clean sheets before the season ends—second only to Arsenal (2.6).
With a projected 6.6 points in Gameweek 33, Dias is a steady option with a high floor, especially for managers playing it safe.
One of the most in-demand City assets right now, Gvardiol has grown into an FPL 'essential'. Not only is he secure for minutes, but he also offers real attacking threat.
He leads all defenders for goals (5) this season and is joint-top for shots in the box (29) and big chances (9).
With 7.1 projected points for the Double Gameweek, he’s a must-own for many—if you somehow don’t already have him, it might be time to fix that.
Once a mainstay in our teams, De Bruyne now finds himself a huge differential.
At the time of writing, he's the fourth most transferred-in player this week with over 185,000 new owners. According to the Transfer Analytics tool, he features in four of the ten most popular midfield combinations.
His projected 10.0 points for Gameweek 33 is the highest among City players, and he’s the Algorithm’s captain pick in this week's team reveal. However, rotation looms large—as always. De Bruyne recently said:
“It’s been a hard year... but I’m basically pain-free for the last six weeks and that’s a massive difference... now I feel free.”
If he starts both matches, the upside is huge.
Marmoush is now a key figure in City's attack—especially with Haaland’s return date still unclear. While his rest-of-season outlook isn’t the highest, his 7.2-point projection for Double Gameweek 33 is strong.
With regular starts and promising underlying data, Marmoush offers explosive potential—and based on ownership, most serious managers already know it.
