Nicolas Jackson (bou)

Jackson’s only goal of the campaign came in Gameweek 3 against Luton but his underlying numbers are very impressive. The 22-year-old is top of the Comparison Matrix for shots (15) and ‘big chances’ (BC) (seven), his problem has been efficiency in front of goal with only five of these 15 shots testing the opposition keeper. As the below image from our Fixture Planner shows, Chelsea have a great run of fixtures after the international break with games against Bournemouth Fulham and Burnley. He is currently the most sold player ahead of the Gameweek 5 deadline, but managers should probably look to keep the faith given that the schedule is very promising for the London side.

Julián Álvarez (whu)

Álvarez has started every game for Man. City this campaign and is top of the comparison for FPL points (28). He is providing the Champions some much needed creativity in De Bruyne’s absence and is top of the comparison for assists (three) and attempted assists (12), while he is also taking plenty of shots (14). However, he has been afforded just three BC so far, the lowest amongst the players in the comparison. Argentina play in Bolivia on the Tuesday before Gameweek 5, and this is often a draining fixture at high altitude so there is some possibility of him being rotated with the Champions League fixtures on the horizon.

Darwin Núñez (wol)

Núñez’ start against Villa was his first of the campaign and the Uruguayan International has only featured for just 106 minutes so far. Despite this, he has racked up two goals and two assists, taken nine shots and is joint-second for BC (four). He currently has a lot of competition for the centre-forward spot with Gakpo and Jota both vying for that position, but, his recent performances look to have cemented his starting birth and he is one of the most explosive options in the game when given minutes.

Evan Ferguson (mun)

Ferguson recently had to pull out of the Republic of Ireland squad with an injury he sustained against Newcastle and the 18-year-old is currently a doubt to face Man. Utd. in Gameweek 5. He has only played 206 minutes, but, tops the comparison for goals (four) and shots on target (nine). He has attempted 13 shots, four of which were BC, and if declared fit is a great option in an attacking Brighton side who are without Welbeck for a period.

Taiwo Awoniyi (BUR)

Awoniyi is one of few players to have notched attacking returns in every game of the 2023/24 campaign, with the Forest forward already bagging three goals and one assist. However, his shot volume (seven) is the lowest in the comparison and he has landed just three shots on target across the four matches. He is second for attempted assists (four) and joint-second for BC (four) which indicates that the chances he does get are very high quality opportunities. Forest have a great run of fixtures with home games against Burnley, Brentford and Luton over the next five matches and at under 10% ownership he could be a great differential.

What do the Projections say?

Use predictive FPL statistics to increase your Gameweek points.

As the above image from the Fix Algorithm feature shows, Awoniyi (25.8) is the highest projected scoring forward at £7.5m and under over the next six Gameweeks. Jackson features in fifth (22.3) with Álvarez in eighth (20.8), the Argentinian International’s projections are no doubt affected by his minutes uncertainty, likewise with Núñez’(10.6). Ferguson’s (15.7) current injury doubts also see him ranked quite low in the projections.
