If you are the sort of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) manager who enjoys going against the grain – or takes satisfaction from finding hidden gems before the crowd – then lowly selected players (differentials) can often provide value and offer a source of points which won’t be shared by many other managers. As long as the player picks are justifiable, differentials can give you an edge over your mini-league rivals.

In this article we look ahead to Gameweek 7 and find players from each position who are currently selected by less than 10% of managers, but could reward their owners in the upcoming Gameweeks.
It’s the first double Gameweek of the season, but for just two newly promoted teams. Fair enough, it may not be the most riveting of doubles, but it is still a great opportunity to bag some points, especially if you are in the market for differential picks.
In defence, it’s Issa Kaboré (£4.0m). Already owned by more than 5% of managers, the Luton full-back has spent most of the season on the 3rd bench spot of his owners’ squads. But we are likely to see his effective ownership (EO) become higher than ever, as managers move him into the starting XI.
Let’s be honest, this pick is all about the double Gameweek. Luton’s start has been tough and, accordingly, none of their players are running up particularly impressive stats. But amongst Burnley and Luton defenders, Kaboré is joint-top for shots (4) and is the only one to register an assist so far this season (Opta Stats Sandbox). If his owners get lucky, we could see a clean sheet and/or attacking return over the two fixtures.
If it’s a midfielder you are after, then you probably won’t do much better than Luca Koleosho (£5.0m). Yes, he may have only registered 13 FPL points this season, but as with Luton, Burnley’s campaign must be viewed through the lens of the fixtures they have endured so far. Manchester City, Aston Villa, Spurs and Manchester United in the first five matches is a big ask for anyone, especially a newly promoted team.
But, despite the difficult spell, Koleosho has been easy on the eye. Apart from our defensive differential pick, Kaboré, no other Luton or Burnley player can beat the Italian youth international for xA (0.79) or attempted assists (6).
The danger, of course, in opting for a Burnley player over a Luton one is that Burnley’s double is much more difficult. Whereas Luton play Burnley at home and Everton away, Burnley face two away fixtures, with Newcastle United up first.
Considering Morris for the double Gameweek?

There is a good argument to say that Carlton Morris (£5.5m) is the best pick for Gameweek 7, regardless of him being a differential.
With two goals and an assist already, Morris has more FPL points than a number of more highly owned forwards such as Alexander Isak (£7.6m), Callum Wilson (£7.8m), and Nicholas Jackson (£6.9m).
With two great fixtures ahead, there is almost no good reason not to take a punt on Luton’s nailed penalty-taker in Gameweek 7.
Beyond that of course, is a different story. While Luton’s fixtures have no doubt turned a corner, FPL managers may not want to occupy a precious forward spot with a Luton player, especially those on Wildcard. They are by far, one of the weakest teams to come up from the Championship and they will need to battle hard for goals against even the lesser teams in the Premier League. But, at £5.5m, he could be a good budget enabler with guaranteed minutes and an easy switch for Jackson owners.
