Mohamed Salah, Liverpool’s talisman, leads our list with an impressive 30.8 projected points.
The 31-year-old Egyptian King benefits from a double gameweek in GW25, facing Wolves at home and Aston Villa away. Despite a potential tough GW26 fixture against Manchester City, Salah’s form and Liverpool’s attacking prowess make him an essential asset.
Although two of his upcoming matches are away from Anfield, Salah has been outstanding on the road. According to the Opta Heatmaps tool, he is averaging a remarkable 11.9 FPL points per away game. To put that into perspective, that's 5.1 points more than Kluivert and Isak, who are joint-second with 6.8.
With 21 goals and 13 assists this season—topping the charts in both—Salah remains a high-ceiling option, capable of delivering returns even in the toughest fixtures.
The 21-year-old English midfielder, Cole Palmer, continues to impress, playing a key role in Chelsea’s attack despite his young age.
With 20.2 projected points, he continues to be a great option. A quick look at Chelsea’s last five games in the Match Centre feature confirms this, with Palmer leading for goals (2), shots on target (8), and attempted assists (14).
However, despite his strong performances, Palmer’s ownership has declined in recent Gameweeks. Since his 10-point haul against Bournemouth, he has seen over 400,000 net transfers out.
His upcoming fixtures look promising, particularly the home games against Aston Villa and Southampton. In Gameweek 27, he has a projected score of 9.2 points, making him the top captaincy option according to the Algorithm.
Given his involvement in Chelsea’s attack, including penalties and set-pieces, Palmer remains a highly appealing option for FPL managers.
Aston Villa’s 28-year-old English striker, Ollie Watkins, is set for a strong run with 19.0 projected points. He benefits from a double gameweek in GW25, including a favourable home fixture against Ipswich Town.
However, it's worth noting that Watkins is currently flagged with a 75% chance of playing due to a muscle injury and did not feature in Villa’s FA Cup match against Spurs. Villa manager Unai Emery provided an update, stating:
“For [Watkins], each day is important in terms of how he is feeling, but for Sunday, I don’t think he will be available because he didn’t train today. Tomorrow, I don’t think he will train either, as he needs more time to recover. Hopefully, he will be available next week.”
Despite the injury concern, Watkins remains a key figure in Villa’s attack. As shown in the Opta Stats Sandbox, he is the club’s top goalscorer (10), leading FPL points scorer (116), and joint-top for assists (5) alongside Rogers.
While the fixtures against Liverpool and Chelsea appear challenging, Watkins has proven he can deliver against top opposition. The away game at Crystal Palace also offers further potential for returns.
Manchester City’s 23-year-old Norwegian sensation, Erling Haaland, ranks fourth with 18.6 projected points. Despite what has been a challenging season by his high standards, he has still managed six goals in his last six games.
While his upcoming fixtures are difficult, Haaland’s goal-scoring prowess makes him a constant threat. The home match against Newcastle in GW25 presents the best opportunity for a big haul, and Spurs away could also be promising—Tottenham have kept just one clean sheet at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and have conceded an average of 1.92 goals per game.
However, the away fixture at Liverpool will undoubtedly be tough. Still, Haaland’s ability to score against any opponent means he can never be overlooked.
One surprising statistic is that he is owned by just 3.1% of the top 1 million managers, as shown in the Insight Live tool. This makes him a major differential, but with no clear opportunity to captain him, his premium price tag of £14.7m remains a deterrent.
Rounding out our top five is Liverpool’s 24-year-old Dutch forward, Cody Gakpo, with 18.1 projected points.
Like his teammate Salah, Gakpo benefits from the double gameweek in GW25. His affordable price makes him an attractive option for managers looking to capitalise on Liverpool’s attacking potential without breaking the bank.
So much so that he features in 21.4% of our Elite XI: Team Reveal managers’ squads—managers who have a combined 83 top 10k finishes.
Gakpo’s versatility in Liverpool’s front line increases his chances of involvement. However, with Diogo Jota playing the full match against Plymouth in the FA Cup, there could be more rotation in the Premier League moving forward.
As we approach the FA Cup 5th Round, these five players offer a mix of reliability and explosive potential.
Salah and Palmer stand out as the best options, with high projected points and strong captaincy appeal. Watkins provides excellent value with his double gameweek, though his fitness remains a concern. Haaland, while always a threat, is a costly investment with challenging fixtures. Meanwhile, Gakpo offers promise but carries the risk of rotation.
Finding the right balance between form, fixtures, and budget will be key to maximising FPL returns in the coming weeks.
