Fantasy Football Fix 21 Feb. 2019

Headliner - Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Aubameyang has been a reliable source of goals at the Emirates this season, with 62% of his Fantasy Premier League (FPL) involvements (nine goals four assists) coming during home games. As the Fix Heatmaps feature shows, across the last six home matches the 29-year-old has delivered an incredible total of six goals and four assists, meaning he was directly involved in 10 of Arsenal’s 16 goals scored during that period. He also recorded a league-high total of 11 ‘big chances’, while no player took more than his 21 shots from inside the box (SiB).  Arsenal have scored 28 goals at the Emirates this season, only Liverpool (35) and Man. City (49) have found the net more on home turf. They registered 64 shots on target (SoT) across these matches, the seventh-best in the league. Arsenal are also third for ‘big chances’ with 38, trailing Liverpool (40) and Man. City (56). Although Southampton have conceded only three goals in their last four away trips they have allowed opponents 71 shots, with only West Ham (72) and Watford (78) faring worse, indicating that they have been a tad lucky. Our Fix Algorithm backs Aubameyang to get back on the scoresheet with a point score of 5.5.

Felipe Anderson (FUL)

Despite a spell of disappointing returns in the last seven gameweeks, registering just one assist, Felipe Anderson has the fixtures to recapture his form starting with a visit from a porous Fulham defence in gameweek 27. The Brazilian has recorded five double-figure returns this season with nine of his 12 FPL involvements coming against teams outside of the ‘top six’. As the Custom Stats table shows, he has created a total of nine ‘big chances’ this campaign with only D. Silva, Hazard (each 11), Salah (12) and Fraser (16) producing more amongst midfielders. Over their last six home matches, the Hammers have landed 35 SoT, the fifth-highest in the league and the most of any side outside of the ‘top six’. The Cottagers defensive statistics offer plenty of reason to back the Brazilian, as no side has conceded more than the Cottagers 32 goals on their travels. They have allowed opponents 151 SiB in those 13 matches and 80 SoT, with only Burnley faring worse in both metrics. They are also bottom for ‘big chances’ conceded with 45. Our Fix Algorithmbacks Anderson to get attacking returns with a point score of 6.5.

Mohamed Salah (mun)

Salah is level with Agüero in the race for the Golden Boot, after scoring his 17th league goal during the win over Bournemouth last gameweek. The Egypt international has returned four goals in the last five gameweeks, putting him level with Pogba and Mané, with no midfielder scoring more than the trio. As the Custom Stats table shows, during the same period a total of 11 SoT by the Liverpool talisman can be bettered by only Pogba (11) amongst midfielders, while only Jota (six) was involved in more than his five ‘big chances’. Liverpool have scored 11 goals in the last six gameweeks, only Man. City scored more (20) having played an extra game. The Reds fired 34 SoT in that period, only Man. United (42) and Man. City (45) attempted more. Although the Red Devils’ results have picked up under Solskjaer they have kept just one clean sheet at home this season which is joint-fewest along with Fulham, additionally they have allowed opponents 53 SoT. The Red Devils have conceded 16 goals in their 12 home matches, and it is unlikely that they will keep the rampant Liverpool attack at bay. In what promises to be a high scoring encounter, our Fix Algorithm predicts a point score of 4.9 for Salah.

Salomón Rondón (HUD)

Since securing a regular starting place from gameweek 11 onwards, Rondon has directly contributed to 50% of Newcastle’s 16 Premier League goals, assisting twice and netting six goals in 15 appearances. As the Fix Heatmaps feature shows, the Venezuelan returned an average of 4.7 points per game during that period (GW11-26) and only six forwards returned more than his 70 FPL points. He fired off a total of 34 efforts from inside the box, only beaten by Aubameyang (35), Jiménez (41) and Mitrovic (42) amongst forwards. Newcastle have scored six goals in their last four matches, taking 45 shots with 25 being SiB. Their opponents Huddersfield have conceded 11 goals in their last four matches, only Chelsea have been more leaky with 12. The Terriers have conceded 41 SiB with only West Ham (42) , Newcastle (45) and Fulham (46) conceding more. Huddersfield are also ranked second worst for ‘big chances’ conceded with 12, with only Chelsea faring worse (14). Our Fix Algorithm predicts a point score of 4.7 for the Newcastle front-man.

Ricardo Pereira (CRY)

Pereira found his eighth FPL involvement of the season (two goals, six assists) with an assist against Spurs last gameweek, providing a total of four attempted assists during the match. No defender has recorded more than the right-back’s total of three assists across the last six gameweeks, and it can only be matched by Kolasinac and Robertson. The 25-year-old has amassed an impressive total of 13 attempted assists during that period, which again ranks joint-best amongst defenders, alongside Trippier and van Aanholt. Leicester have conceded 13 goals in their 12 home matches, and allowed opponents only 38 SoT, an average of three per match, the fifth-best in the league. They are also ranked fifth-best for fewest ‘big chances’ conceded with 38. Palace have only managed 26 SoT in their last six games, the tenth-lowest in that period, so appear to have been fortunate to score 10 goals. Our Fix Algorithm predicts a 37% chance of a Leicester clean sheet and a point score of 3.9 for the Portuguese defender.
