GW33 Differential Focus

24 April 2023

If you are the sort of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) manager who enjoys going against the grain – or takes satisfaction from finding hidden gems before the crowd – then lowly selected players (differentials) can often provide value and offer a source of points which won’t be shared by many other managers. As long as the player picks are justifiable, differentials can give you an edge over your mini-league rivals.

In this article we look ahead to blank Gameweek 33 and find players from each position who are currently selected by less than 10% of managers, but could reward their owners in the upcoming Gameweeks.

Wolves are ranked top for defensive fixture difficulty in Gameweek 33 - click here for the Fixture Planner

In the last ten Gameweeks, Wolves are ranked 7th for fewest goals conceded (per game) at 1.17 – which is impressive given they have faced Liverpool (twice), Tottenham, Newcastle, Chelsea and Brentford in the time period.

One thing you can say about Wolves in recent weeks, is that they don’t concede that many chances – according to Opta Stats Sandbox, Wolves have conceded less xG (per 90) than Arsenal, and are only just behind Spurs and Manchester United in terms of defensive resilience.

With a home game against Crystal Palace, the Fixture Planner ranks Wolves as the best team to target in terms of defensive fixture difficulty and the ever-reliable Max Kilman (£4.3m) is set to retain his place in the defence. While Wolves are somewhat lacking in attack, Kilman has racked up two clean sheets in his last four appearances and, at less than £4.5m, is an absolute bargain.
