Man. United ran out 3-2 winners against Norwich and the underlying numbers suggest it was an even contest. Even though the Red Devils managed nine shots on target (SoT) to the Canaries' four, they notched just 1.61 'Expected Goals' to their visitors' 1.43.
Ronaldo took a whopping eight shots against the Canaries with five of these landing on target. He scored three goals from an xG of just 0.86 and no player has registered more Fantasy Premier League (FPL) points (17) so far this gameweek. Pukki put in an impressive shift, he took four shots with an xG of 0.60 and also attempted two assists. B. Fernandes played a deeper role, he took three shots with an xG of just 0.10 and created just one chance. Sancho took three shots with an xG of just 0.24 and also created as many chances.
Newcastle were deserved winners against Leicester with an xG of 1.75 versus just 0.59 for their visitors. The Magpies landed seven SoT compared to just two for their visitors and had double the number of shots (16 to eight).
B. Guimarães dominated the numbers with an xG of 1.27, with no other player managing more than 0.26. The Brazilian took four shots, all of which were on target and also attempted one assist. Dewsbury-Hall put forth his case for inclusion as a bench option for the upcoming doubles, the midfielder created three chances with an 'Expected Assists' figure of 0.26 and also took three shots. Lookman scored from his only shot but did create three chances. Saint-Maximin was lively as usual with three shots and two attempted assists. Wood had a quiet game with just one shot and no chances created.
Southampton rode their luck in their 1-0 victory over Arsenal, the Saints largely had their goalkeeper to thank as they notched 0.92 xG compared to 1.50 for their visitors.
Elyounoussi was the top xG performer (0.60) but failed to find the back of the net. He did however create Bednarek's goal which was his only attempted assist all game. Saka was the standout performer for Arsenal with an xG of 0.54 and an xA of 0.19. The 20-year old took four shots, two of which hit the target and also created four chances. Martinelli took five shots, a total only Antonio (seven) and Ronaldo (eight) can better this gameweek so far, but he only tested Forster once. Broja had just one shot with an xG of 0.05, but did create two chances with an xA of 0.63.
