GW33 Top Three Captaincy Picks

Fantasy Football Fix 14 April 2022

Caveat - Picks are in below format

  1. No.1 predicted by Fix
  2. Alternative high-ownership option. Over 20%
  3. Differential option. Under 20%

Cristiano Ronaldo (NOR/liv)

Despite a recent barren patch, Ronaldo is still joint-top amongst forwards for goals scored (12) while he is second for 'big chances' (21) and shots on target (33) only to Kane (26 and 40). Man. Utd have scored 49 goals this season, only five teams have managed more. They are ranked fifth for both shtos (432) and SoT (150). Their first opponents Norwich have conceded 10 goals over the last six gameweeks keeping only two clean sheets. The Canaries have allowed opponents 17 'big chances' with only Southampton (22) faring worse. The visit to Liverpool looks to be far more difficult, the Merseyside outfit have conceded just two goals over the last six gameweeks and are third for shots conceded (46). Our Fix Algorithm currently projects a point score of 9.8 for Ronaldo.

Bukayo Saka (sou/che)

Saka has scored two goals over the last six gameweeks and is ranked 10th for shots in the box (SiB) amongst midfielders over that period. As the Stats Sandbox image below shows, his 14 chances created can only be bettered by Kulusevski, Raphinha (each 15) and De Bruyne (17). The Gunners' first hosts Southampton have conceded 15 goals over the aforementioned period, the most in the league. Only Norwich (36), Everton (37) and Leeds (41) have allowed opponents more SoT than their 35. Their second game looks a bit trickier with Chelsea conceding just five goals in the last six gameweeks. The Blues are ranked second for both shots conceded (42) and SoT conceded (12). However, they would have played an FA Cup semi-final just a few days before this game and might be suffering from fatigue. Our Fix Algorithm currently projects a point score of 7.5 for Saka.

Harvey Barnes (new/eve)

H. Barnes has adopted a shoot on sight policy recently with the winger's total of 19 shots only bettered by Salah (20) amongst midfielders over the last six gameweeks. He has also landed the same number of SoT as Salah (six). He has a creative element to his game as well with only Kante (three), Mbeumo (four) and Kulusevski (six) registering more assists than his two. As the below image from our FPL Statistics feature shows, he is under 20% ownership across all rank groups and is a great differential. Leicester have scored eight goals over the same period and are ranked 10th for SoT (23). Their first opponents Newcastle have conceded nine goals over the last six gameweeks keeping just two clean sheets. Only Brighton, Everton (each 16), Norwich (17) and Southampton (22) have allowed opponents more 'big chances' than the Magpies (15). The subsequent visit to Everton might prove even more fruitful, the Toffees have conceded 12 goals over the last six gameweeks with only Leeds (41) conceding more SoT than their 37. Our Fix Algorithm currently projects a point score of 8.2 for H. Barnes.
