xFPL is calculated primarily using expected goals (xG), assists (xA), which combine as Fantasy Premier League (FPL) involvements (xG + xA = xI), as well as expected clean sheets (xC). These numbers are a result of underlying statistics (i.e. shot type and location will give a probability of scoring = xG). xFPL is the combination of these statistics and factors in appearance and bonus points to give an overall expected FPL point score.
Toney tops the xFPL Custom Stats Table for gameweek six with a score of 10.1. No player took more shots than the 26-year-old (six), landed more shots on target (SoT) (four) or was afforded more 'big chances' (two). De Bruyne and Trippier (six each) lead the way for chances created, the Belgian international created two 'big chances' to the full-back's one which gave him a superior xFPL score of 9.8 to Trippier's 7.7. Popular budget asset, Groß, also posted great numbers with five chances created, two of which were 'big chances' and also took two shots leading to an xFPL score of 5.0. Haaland comes in sixth for xFPL (9.1), the Norwegian international took three shots, all of which were on target but just one of these was a 'big chance'. Salah had a quiet game, the Egyptian international took three shots and attempted three assists but had no 'big chance' involvements leading to a low xFPL score of 3.4. Rashford scored with both of his shots and created two chances but had three 'big chance' involvements which saw him rack up an xFPL score of 9.9.
Even with six days to the next deadline, our Transfer Analytics feature shows that Rashford, Trippier and Toney have seen over 900,000 transfers combined already with managers moving off Perišić, Cucurella, Walker, Rodrigo and Jesus. A look at the Fixture Analyser for the next three weeks shows that Brentford are in sixth while Newcastle are in eighth so Trippier and Toney backers should still reap rewards. Man. Utd are in fifteenth with Palace away and Man. City away two of their next three games so perhaps managers looking to bring in Rashford should reconsider.
Haaland's status as the top premium asset is unquestionable with the Norwegian international topping the Fix Comparison Matrix for FPL Points (67), goals (10), shots (25), SoT (15) and 'big chances' (14). The second spot is up for debate with Kane beating Salah for both shots (22 to 17) and SoT (12 to five). The Egyptian international tops the comparison for attempted assists (24) ahead of De Bruyne (21), and it is a worrying sign that he has been afforded just four 'big chances' over 540 minutes. Son comes in third for SoT (seven) and has perhaps been a tad unlucky not to find the back of the net thus far. Based on the comparison, there is a case for going Kane over Salah with the England international blanking in just one game so far.
