GW9 Top Five Key Players

Fantasy Football Fix 29 Sept. 2022

Headliner - Erling Haaland (MUN)

Haaland is the league's top scorer by some distance with 11 goals and he is second only to Mitrović (25) for shots in the box (SiB) (24) amongst forwards, while no player has registered more 'big chances' (14) and shots on target (SoT) (17). He is also third for 'big chances' created (three) amongst forwards. The Norwegian international is rated at 100% to start by our Predicted Lineups feature which is significant considering the rotation usually expected with Guardiola's sides. Man. City have been prolific with 23 goals scored, the reigning Champions are also top for shots (118) and 'big chances' (29). Their cross-town rivals Man. United have conceded eight goals so far and have kept just two clean sheets. They are ranked sixth for 'big chances' conceded (10) and 10th for SiB conceded (57). Our Fix Algorithm currently projects a point score of 7.9 for Haaland.

Mohamed Salah (BHA)

Salah has registered five attacking returns so far this season (two goals, three assists) and the underlying numbers indicate that a haul could be around the corner. As the Stats Sandbox image below shows, the Egyptian international trails only Son and Rodrigo (16 each) for SiB (14) amongst midfielders while only Zaha (five) has been afforded more 'big chances' than his four. No player across all positions has created more chances (24) than the 30-year-old. Liverpool have scored 15 goals so far, only Arsenal (17), Spurs (18) and Man. City (23) have found the back of the net more often. The Merseyside outfit are top for SiB (92) despite playing a game fewer than most other teams and are ranked fourth for SoT (38). Their visitors Brighton were a frugal outfit under Potter prior to the international break, the Seagulls have conceded the fewest goals (five) in the league and only Man. City (four) have kept more clean sheets than their three. They are ranked fourth for shots conceded (60) and second for 'big chances' conceded (seven) but their new manager De Zerbi is likely to setup in a more attacking system so these numbers should be taken with a pinch of salt. Our Fix Algorithm currently projects a point score of 6.2 for Salah.
