Man. City travel to Everton in gameweek 27 with several managers looking to bring in their assets and in this blog their midfield assets are compared over the last eight gameweeks. Averages are used due to some players playing reduced minutes.
Mahrez tops the comparison for Fantasy Premier League points (FPL) (7.6), goals (0.8), shots (2.4) and shots in the box (SiB) (2.0). His creative numbers are impressive as well, he has averaged 1.6 attempted assists per game, but it does stand out that none of these were a 'big chance' created. In terms of being afforded 'big chances', he is second (0.8) only to Sterling (1.3). With penalty duties in his locker, these numbers indicate he is an explosive option with many routes to points.
Sterling is joint-second for FPL points per game (PPG) (7.0) and only Mahrez (0.8) has averaged more goals than his 0.7 per game. Even though he is joint-top for assists (0.3), he is actually bottom of the comparison for attempted assists per game (1.0). Where he does really stand out is his shooting numbers, he leads the comparison for SiB (2.0), SoT (1.4) and 'big chances' (1.3) per game. The numbers indicate that he is now more of a goal scorer than a creator for Man. City and is a great option.
Foden has been fielded either on the left-wing or as a striker over the last eight matches and his numbers have been underwhelming. He has averaged just 4.3 FPL PPG, has scored just two goals and registered no assists. He is third for SiB (1.6) and fourth for attempted assists (1.0). He is more effective when fielded as a striker and with his position being difficult to predict, he appears to be lower down the pecking order than the aforementioned two in terms of FPL.
De Bruyne has been posting impressive numbers since his return to the side, the Belgian is joint-second for PPG (7.0) and top for assists (0.3), shots (2.4), attempted assists (2.6) and 'big chances' created (0.4). However, it is worth mentioning that he averages just one SiB per game and has registered zero 'big chances' over the last eight matches which means he is relying on long range efforts to score. He is one of the most nailed on options in the Man. City side and is a great pick, both long term and on a Free Hit.
B. Silva has featured in every game for Man. City over the last eight matches but despite being top for assists (0.3), his underlying numbers have been poor. He is bottom of the comparison for goals (zero), shots (1.3), SiB (1.0), SoT (0.1) and 'big chances' (zero). Despite assured minutes, there appear to be better options to invest in and the Portugal international should probably be avoided.
