Spurs and Liverpool played out a thrilling draw in the final match of gameweek 18, and the match stats would indicate that Spurs were unlucky not to take all three points. The North London side were superior for xG (2.57) to Liverpool (1.64) despite taking fewer shots (10 to 18).

West Ham vs. Southampton

gw19matchesWHU.png

The Fix Algorithm backs West Ham to beat Southampton on Boxing Day with a 2-0 victory. The Hammers have a strong head-to-head record against the Saints, not losing in any of their last five matches.

A look at the last five game statistics indicates that the Hammers have been spreading the goals around with no player scoring more than one goal over that period. In terms of xG, Bowen (1.2) leads the way with Lanzini (0.8) in second. Bowen also leads the way for SoT (four) and is joint-first for assists (one).

Popular forward option Antonio does show up in the attempted assists numbers with seven chances created. Bowen comes in second with four.

Based on the numbers above, Bowen looks a great pick for the Hammers' kind run of fixtures.

Norwich vs. Arsenal

Arsenal players are popular picks after they were one of the few teams to feature in gameweek 18 and the Algorithm predicts a 0-2 away win for the Gunners. Arsenal have had a favourable record against Norwich in the top flight as well, winning three and drawing two of their last five matches.

Martinelli dominates the attacking numbers over the last five matches. The Brazilian is top for goals (three), xG (2.3), assists (two) while only Ødegaard (17) has attempted more assists than his 12. Lacazette also fares well, though the Frenchman has scored just one goal over the last five, he is second for xG (2.0), top for SoT (six) and fourth for attempted assists (five). Saka is third for xG (1.3) and SoT (four) while only the aforementioned duo of Martinelli and Ødegaard have attempted more assists.

Based on these numbers, Martinelli looks like the player to target.
