Born in Kourou, French Guiana in 1998, Édouard joined the PSG academy in 2011 from amateur side, AF Bobigny. Although he scored more than 60 goals for the club at youth level, he could never break into the first team and was loaned to Toulouse in 2016 where he scored just one goal in 16 appearances. He was loaned to Celtic the following season and hit the ground running, scoring nine goals in 22 appearances in his first season. Celtic signed him on a permanent deal the following season, and he scored an additional 57 goals in 94 appearances for the Scottish side.

Édouard averaged 4.2 shots and 2 shots on target per game for Celtic and it is unlikely he would find as many shooting opportunities in the Premier League. He will need to improve on his 12% shot conversion rate and although his starting price of 6.5 is attractive, a wait and see approach is suggested initially, as Palace still have a difficult run of fixtures over the next few weeks.
