Rashford might miss some gametime due to the injury he sustained against Everton and in this blog the replacement options are compared over the last six gameweeks using the Fix Comparison Matrix. Averages are used since some players have played more matches.
Grealish has averaged 86.2 minutes per game for Man. City over the last six gameweeks which is significantly higher than Mahrez (54.7). He has averaged a healthy 6.6 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) points over that period along with 0.4 assists and 0.4 goals per game. The underlying numbers are not as strong as some of the other candidates, he has averaged only 1.8 shots per game (third) and 1.6 attempted assists (fourth). However, his 'big chance' average of 0.4 is still good and trails only Martinelli (1.0). It is worth mentioning that both Grealish and Mahrez will blank in gameweek 32 due to Man. City's participation in the FA Cup semi-final. As the below image from our Transfer Analytics show, he is by far the most popular transfer-in this week with over 260,000 managers bringing him in.
Martinelli has been one of the league's form players across the last six gameweeks, he tops the comparison for FPL points per game (8.7), goals (0.9), shots on target (SoT) (1.3) and 'big chances' (1.0). His minutes (87.1) have been consistent too despite the return of Jesus to the starting XI and it is difficult to see Trossard displacing him anytime soon. As the below image from our Fixture Planner feature shows, Arsenal are ranked in the bottom five for fixture difficulty over the next six gameweeks despite a good fixture against Southampton in blank gameweek 32 so for anyone planning to Free Hit next gameweek he is perhaps not the best option.
Ødegaard has averaged a healthy 4.3 FPL points per game over the last six gameweeks which puts him third in the comparison. Although he ranks top for shots (3.3), several of these efforts are from outside the penalty area and he has averaged just 0.1 'big chances' over the aforementioned period. His creativity numbers have dropped in recent weeks, with only 1.9 attempted assists per game. Martinelli appears to be the better option, if going for an Arsenal midfielder.
Olise is thriving under Hodgson and racked up three assists in their game against Leeds. Although his shot volume (1.6) is the lowest in the comparison, he is second only to Mahrez (2.7) for attempted assists (with 2.0) while none of the candidates have notched more assists per game (0.4). As the below image from our Fixture Planner shows, Palace are ranked fourth for Fixture Difficulty over the next six gameweeks with attractive games against Southampton, Everton, Wolves, West Ham and Bournemouth over that period. He is significantly cheaper (5.4) than the other players in the comparison and a great enabler to free up funds for upgrades elsewhere.
Mahrez' gametime suffered with Foden cementing the right-wing role but the England international's injury has meant more regular starts for the Algerian international. No player has attempted more assists (2.7) than the 32-year-old but it is concerning that his shot volume (1.7) ranks fourth and he has not landed a single shot on target over the last six gameweeks, nor registered a 'big chance'. On the basis of these numbers, Grealish appears to be the superior option from Man. City.
