Spurs assets are popular this week with a double in gameweek 29 and a fixture in gameweek 30 and in this blog two of their midfielders Son and Kulusevski are compared over the last four gameweeks using the Fix Heatmaps feature.
Kulusevski (33) has outscored Son (30) for Fantasy Premier League (FPL) points over the last four gameweeks and has played similar minutes as the South Korean which should allay any fears about his spot in the side.
The Touch Map indicates that Kulusevski is primarily occupying the right hand side of the pitch in an advanced role whereas Son has more freedom to roam in different areas. The South Korean also appears to be doing his fair share of defensive work. It is interesting to note that Kulusevski has made more passes (159 to 134) and also had more touches (259 to 227) than the South Korean which emphasises his importance to the side.
The 'Average Defensive Radar' is quite similar for both players with Kulusevski faring slightly better for tackles (five to four) and recoveries (25 to 20). The 'Average Attacking Radar' is also similar but there are some stark differences which are detailed below.
Both players have scored the same number of goals (two) but the underlying numbers are worth delving into. Kulusevski has taken 11 shots in the box (SiB) to just six for Son but the South Korean is ahead for 'Expected Goals' (1.88 to 1.12) which indicates he is getting the better quality chances if not the volume.
It is a contrasting story when it comes to creativity, Kulusevski has attempted eight assists to Son's 15 but the Swede is just marginally behind for 'Expected Assists' (1.88 to 1.83).
On the basis of this analysis, both players are excellent picks but Son does not justify the significantly extra outlay over Kulusevski.
