Mohamed Salah first turned heads in England when he independently dismantled Chelsea, while playing for FC Basel, during the opening group-stage match of 2013/14’s Champions League. This happened to be José Mourinho’s first Champions League game since returning as the Blues’ Head Coach. Chelsea lost 2-1 at Stamford Bridge that evening, Salah, the star of the show. Two months later, in the reverse fixture, it was a case of lightning striking twice - Salah the star again - Scoring the winner in a 1-0 victory. Chelsea responded to the humiliation by signing the Egyptian as soon as the January transfer window opened, but Salah’s Chelsea career never took off. After a short successful loan spell (from Chelsea) to Fiorentina at the end of 2014/15, Roma pounced, loaning him for the 2015/16 campaign, before permanently signing him at the start of the 2016/17 season. His attacking output over the last two seasons at Roma has been exceptional, fully justifying his latest transfer fee of £36.90m. Salah, is the final jigsaw-piece for Klopp’s re-designed, first choice quartet. Coutinho, Firmino and Mané making up the four. All of them possess similar qualities that mean they are interchangeable across various positions in the attack. Sturridge, Origi, and Solanke are likely to provide the back-up and Salah could turn a few heads in 2017/18’s Fantasy Premier League.
