Riyad Mahrez to Man City

Predicted Price: TBC

Fee - £60M

Primary position - Attacking Midfield

Last two seasons’ form – 72 Games / 18 Goals / 17 Assists

The Manchester City hierarchy are obviously a fan of Riyad Mahrez and have followed up their interest from January to land the Algerian for £60M from Leicester City.  How the former Premier League winner fits into the City lineup though will be one of the hottest talking points for fantasy football managers as the new season's kick-off approaches. Mahrez joins Kevin De Bruyne, Leroy Sane, Raheem Sterling and David Silva as attacking midfielders available to manager Pep Guardiola, and that's before the likes of Bernando Silva and Ilkay Gindogan are factored in.

Viewed in isolation, Mahrez is a superb fantasy asset. His 35 goals over the last 3 seasons equates roughly to a goal every 3 games and sees him arrive as the most prolific goalscorer amongst City's midfielders. Add in 28 assists over the same period and he's registered attacking points on average every 159 minutes, and this includes his rather lacklustre 2016/17 season when Leicester struggled to follow up their title win.

Taking these stats into consideration you can see why Man City have invested in Mahrez and it's unlikely they'll have brought him in to warm the bench. The amount of quality in the City squad does mean, however, that rotation will be a big factor when considering Manchester City players and no doubt force FPL managers into some agonising decision making.
