Born in Bath, Mings signed for Ipswich Town in 2013 where he went on to make 57 appearances for the club. After an impressive 2014/15 campaign, he was signed by Bournemouth in June 2015 for a fee of £8 million. He was unlucky to suffer a major knee injury in his debut game which kept him out for over a year. His appearances were mostly at left-back for the South coast club and he struggled to displace Daniels from the starting lineup, making only 17 appearances over three and a half seasons. He was loaned to Aston Villa in January 2019 and was a big factor in their promotion campaign. He slotted straight into Dean’s starting lineup and Villa’s backline kept a clean sheet in 50% of the games that Mings featured, an improvement from just 26% prior to his arrival. He has never been a major goal threat, scoring just four senior goals across his career, but managed to notch two in just eighteen games for the Villans. Given Chester’s ongoing injury issues and Mings’ commanding performances during their 10 match unbeaten streak, he is surely one of the first names on Dean’s team sheet. At just 4.5, he offers a cheap nailed Fantasy Premier League (FPL) option for the Villans’ favourable opening run of fixtures.
