Hello there! GW 32 has come and gone and for me it felt like a bit of a non-event. I don’t know whether it was because I wasn’t able to watch the Saturday matches for pretty much the first time this season or whether it was because the majority of big hitters didn’t deliver but it felt like it was just the warm up act for the potentially season defining GW’s 33 and 34.
Looking at the results, Southampton delivered another home clean sheet although it will be of little consolation to Clyne owners who surprisingly saw him dropped to the bench with Koeman citing ‘rest’ as the reason for this. Another shock in the team news was when Loic Remy, transferred in by nearly a quarter of the top 10,000, was left out with a minor impact injury sustained in training. Both of these affected my team but I am hopeful that they will both be starting next week. The biggest talking points this week for me were the Bolasie hat trick, Aguero’s resurgence after over 100,000 people transferred him out and Kane’s blank after most people opted to captain him. Kane has now blanked twice in a row and with Tottenham looking sluggish, some people will be contemplating moving him on when they use their WC in GW 34…
Wain’s Wonders returned 56 points and with a GW rank of 698,255 moved up to 12th position. This week I decided to take a risk and captain Hazard and thankfully he delivered the most out of the captain choices in the top 50 and helped me gain a point on the leader. It wasn’t all rosy however, as having brought in Remy for Austin it was annoying that he didn't play and it looks like after much deliberation that Murray was probably the best two week pick.
As stated above, the next two GW’s are probably the biggest of the season. This is where everyone can make huge ground in the overall ranks and leap up their mini leagues with some careful planning. I am fortunate that I have a WC available to use for the DGW and only 3 people above me have one. This represents a great chance to bring in a lot of DGW players and restructure my team for the final few game weeks of the season and hopefully push back into the top 10.
Another advantage that it also brings is that I can take a punt this week without having to worry about the future impact that player will have on my team. I have 2 FT’s and am able to bring in whoever I feel will score the most points this week. I am currently assessing the Everton full backs, the Palace midfield trio of Bolasie, Puncheon and Zaha, and am even contemplating a wild selection of Kolarov! Let me know below who you think could be worth a gamble on this week.
Looking at teams who aren’t fortunate to have a WC they have much more of a dilemma as fielding 11 players will be tough for some and having to bench some heavy hitters makes this week hard. I know it might seem tempting but I would advise avoiding hits especially if it is for a defender or goalkeeper. Transferring in DGW players of Chelsea and Leicester would seem sensible and if you are in a lucky position where you can already field 11 players, getting ahead of the game and bringing in a Liverpool player could be invaluable. They look mightily impressive against Newcastle and there are many options to consider. Picking the correct one out of Sterling, Coutinho, Henderson and Sturridge (if fit) is going to be tough.
Anyway, thats a brief update on Wain’s Wonders GW 32. I will be on Twitter and looking at the comments section ready to answer any transfer options @jawain04 and will most likely be asking for advice as well as I try to narrow down the best one week transfers. Until next week, goodnight.
