It is the business end of the season and with a huge chunk of fixtures still left to be rescheduled there is plenty to play for at both ends of the Premier League table. Similarly, it as all to play for in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) mini-leagues. In this blog, the Fixture Analyser tool is used to determine which teams have the best fixtures from GW31 onwards.
Burnley are rated the best in the Fixture Analyser for the next five gameweeks for Attack Difficulty. Four of their next seven opponents are ranked in the bottom seven for 'Expected Goals Conceded' (xGC) over the last six gameweeks, and the Clarets need to pick up points to secure Premier League safety. Man. Utd are ranked second with games against Leicester, Everton, Norwich and Brentford looking particularly appealing. The Red Devils have been knocked out of Europe so there should be minimal rotation between matches. Newcastle's next two fixtures do not stand out, but their games in 33 and 34 against Leicester, Palace and Norwich look prime for FPL investment. Leicester are in fourth but the Foxes have little to play for in terms of league position and might shift their focus towards their European games against PSV so caution is urged when investing in their assets.
The Clarets are the only team with two doubles in the short term so it is no surprise to see them top of the Fixture Analyser for Defence Difficulty as well. Pope could be a shrewd investment for those looking to move on Ramsdale and the likes of Mee and Tarkowski deserve consideration as well. Man. Utd are second but the Red Devils defence has been shaky this season and investment in their defence bar De Gea cannot really be advocated. The Saints' fixtures are a mixed bag as well, the games against Leeds, Chelsea and Arsenal do not exactly scream clean sheets so despite them ranking high on the ticker they might not be the ideal avenue for defensive assets.
Leeds, Wolves and Villa are in the bottom five for Fixture Difficulty which is concerning for managers who loaded up on their assets with the double in gameweek 28 and the blank in gameweek 30 in mind. All three of these sides blank in gameweek 33 so managers should be making plans to move them on.
Gameweek 34 sees a big fixture swing for a few teams such as Palace and Man. City with the latter's schedule particularly appealing. Man. City play three sides languishing at the bottom of the table in Watford, Leeds and Newcastle which look great for returns. It is worth mentioning that several sides are likely to have double gameweeks thrown in both gameweek 36 and 37 so the teams that already have an attractive schedule are likely to have the pot sweetened further. Teams such as Newcastle who ranked high in the earlier period are ranked bottom from 34 onwards. Man. Utd and Southampton who again are favoured over the next few also fare pretty poorly from gameweek 35. A wildcard could be very useful around this time.
